Miami is truly an international city, where all cultures meet and mingle. In 2011, guitarist, singer and composer Chico Pinheiro presented an intimate show in the WDNA 88.9FM radio studios in Miami. Who opened the show was the singer Glaucia mining Nasser. In the audience was the legendary percussionist Sammy Figueroa Puerto Rican, who has performed and recorded with hundreds of artists like Miles Davis, Mariah Carey and Jorge Ben Jor our. The two had an instant connection, kept in touch and Sammy went to Sao Paulo to meet with Glaucia and do a show in the house Bourbon Street, and finally entered the studio to record. With participation of Chico Pinheiro and also the pianist Bianca Gismonti, the album "Talisman" was released this year by the jazz label Savant and is conquering the critics with his perfect junction Glaucia Brazilian swing with the rhythm of latin jazz of Sammy. Recorded at NaCenaStudios, an old friend of Sammy’s, Roy Cicala, the engineer of iconic recordings as "Imagine" by John Lennon, and "Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen, the sound quality is really impeccable. Now, the project finally back to Miami, where he was born. The show will be on Saturday, October 18th, 8pm, at Gusman Hall at the Universty of Miami campus. The presentation is part of the prestigious Festival Miami; the music school produces each year with major international artists. Tickets and information for the site www.FestivalMiami.com.
